Vaginal delivery is the most common and natural way of giving birth. For most women and babies, this is the safest option.
Benefits of vaginal delivery include:

When vaginal delivery may not be possible:
Sometimes, vaginal birth is not recommended or is not safe. Conditions such as abnormal fetal position (breech), very large baby, stalled labor, or certain maternal health conditions may make a cesarean delivery necessary.
