Dr. Nwosa is passionate about caring for women through every stage of life, from adolescence through menopause. She brings years of experience as both an obstetrician/gynecologist (Ob/Gyn) and an Obesity Medicine specialist, combining expert medical knowledge with a warm, personalized approach to care.
Education and Training
Born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas, Dr. Nwosa is a proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Nwosa earned her medical degree from New York Medical College and completed her Ob/Gyn residency at Danbury Hospital, a Yale University-affiliated program. She is board-certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Obesity Medicine and was one of the earliest physicians in the U.S. to hold dual board certification in both specialties. Dr. Nwosa is also a Certified Menopause Practitioner through The Menopause Society.
Over the years, Dr. Nwosa has practiced in a variety of regions and has served as Chief of OB/GYN Services at a community hospital in Washington State, USA. She has extensive experience in gynecologic care and in managing both low- and high-risk obstetrics, along with comprehensive obesity medicine treatment. She has completed additional training in advanced laparoscopy and robotic surgery, further expanding her ability to provide minimally invasive surgical options to her patients.
Dr. Nwosa also has formal training in healthcare quality and safety, holding a postgraduate certificate in Safety, Quality, Informatics, and Leadership from Harvard Medical School. She earned a Master's in Healthcare Management from Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School, equipping her with the tools to deliver care that is not only compassionate but also efficient and system focused. During her academic training, she was inducted into the Lambda Alpha and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies in recognition of her commitment to learning and professional growth.
She is a Fellow of both the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Obesity Medicine Association. Only just over 100 physicians in North America have received fellowship recognition from the Obesity Medicine Association. She has also served on multiple national committees within leading U.S. professional societies dedicated to women’s health, patient safety, healthcare quality, and obesity care.
